We are a Newfoundland-based citizens action group opposed to the Comprehensive
Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) that has
been negotiated between Canada and Europe.
We
believe that CETA has been falsely marketed to us by the current
federal government as a trade agreement that will bring us economic
benefits. These benefits, which are highly dubious, are a smoke
screen for the real intent of CETA. CETA is a corporate-rights treaty
designed to increase the power of global corporations at the expense of our
traditional sovereign rights.
The unprecedented secrecy
and refusal to inform the public about the limitations CETA puts on
democratic decision making have led us to believe that our government
is not acting in the interests of the public that elected it.
For an explanation of
these strong assertions we invite you to check out the rest of our website.
